EurAmerica, formerly American Studies, is an academic journal published by the Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica. The journal was renamed EurAmerica in September 1991 (Volume 21, Issue 3) in conjunction with the renaming to the Institute.
EurAmerica is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes original and high-quality research in the Humanities and Social Sciences, with a focus on issues related to Europe and America. It covers a wide range of disciplines, including Literature, Art, Philosophy, History, Sociology, Law, Political Science, and Economics. The journal is especially interested in transdisciplinary work, cross-regional perspectives, and comparative studies. Submissions that respond to articles previously published in EurAmerica are also encouraged, in order to foster ongoing scholarly dialogue. The readership of EurAmerica includes scholars, researchers, university instructors, graduate students, and intellectually engaged readers with an interest in critical, interdisciplinary, and comparative approaches to European and American Studies.
All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Submissions are first evaluated by an editor with expertise in the relevant field, and then reviewed by at least two external referees. The final decision is made by the editorial board, composed of scholars from various disciplines. A full description of the review process is available in the Review Procedure, and authorship criteria—such as policies regarding multiple submissions and redundant publications—are explained in the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.
EurAmerica is ranked as a tier 1 multi-disciplinary journal in the Humanities and Social Sciences category by the National Science and Technology Council, and it is also the only journal concurrently indexed in both the Taiwan Humanities Core Index (THCI) and the Taiwan Social Sciences Core Index (TSSCI).
Published by the Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica, EurAmerica is state-funded and charges no fees (including submission and publication fees). The review and editorial process is free from any conflicts of interest, ensuring a commitment to academic excellence.
Published quarterly in March, June, September, and December, EurAmerica is an open access journal and follows the guidance defined by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Since 2011, all published articles have been freely accessible online. From 2012, in collaboration with the National Central Library, full-text downloads are available through the Taiwan Periodical Literature System. All content is publicly accessible on the official website of EurAmerica and can be non-commercially used under Creative Commons (https://creativecommons.org/) licenses.
