摘要
本文旨在從階級與族裔的角度，探討菲美作家卜婁杉於《美國在我心》中的再現策略與重要議題。全文分為六節：第一節描述卜婁杉集被殖民者、弱勢族裔、農民、工人、作家、編輯、知識分子、工運人士等多重角色於一身之獨特現象及其意義；第二節討論主角階級意識的覺醒，指出貫穿全書的是階級的議題；第三節分析階級如何與族裔結合，形成「被殖民的階級片段」；第四節揭示主角如何內化主流價值觀，並以之反擊主流社會的不公不義；第五節剖析主角所扮演的作家與知識分子的角色；第六節指出文學如何藉由再現帶來希望與再生。

Abstract
This 6-part paper aims to study the representational strategies and important issues in Carlos Bulosan’s American Is in the Heart from the perspectives of class and ethnicity. Part 1 describes the multiple roles that this Filipino American writer played; part 2 reveals that class is the very issue that links the whole novel; part 3 analyzes how class and ethnicity join to form “the colonized class segment”; part 4 investigates how the protagonist made use of the mainstream values he had internalized to fight against the injustice imposed upon the immigrant laborers by mainstream White society; part 5 highlights the protagonist’s role as a writer and intellectual; and part 6 shows how literature brings about hope and regeneration through representation.
